It has been awarded a PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) status by E.U. due to its authenticity and origin. The honey is exceptionally thick, rich, and creamy with a gold/pearlescent effect, having the lowest levels of sugars and calories of any honey and does not crystallize. It is rich in minerals, antiseptic, and diuretic properties, and has high levels of flavonoids and phenolic compounds.
