Lemongrass oil is produced from two distinct botanical species of Cymbopogon. Citratus is found under cultivation and is sometimes referred to as West Indian Lemongrass, while Cymbopogon Flexuosus is cultivated in limited areas of India. The oil is distilled from the fresh or partly dried leaves of the grass. It can be very refreshing and is often used in aromatherapy for its citrus scent. It should be used in moderation by those with sensitive skin.
