Irish Moss (also called Carrageen) is primarily used as a vegan alternative to gelatin, a thickener for soups, stews, and sauces, and to make tea to act as a cough medicine. It can also be applied on the skin to soothe burns, moisturize, and prevent acne and eczema. Air dried and bleached, it has no flavor but a mildly sweet smell.
